Construction

nswbuy offers a range of services and information about the construction and refurbishment of public buildings and community infrastructure, for agencies not accreditation to manage their construction needs.

Annually, nswbuy awards construction contracts worth around $600 million and construction related consultancy engagements around $30 million.

NSW Treasury has accredited some agencies to manage construction procurement. Agencies without accreditation are required by government to obtain assistance for construction projects valued over $1 million.

Procurement policy

When you procure or tender construction works, some regulations and guidelines apply.

For more information, go to the procurement policy section of this website.

There are two phases to construction procurement for agencies:

Planning

  • Service demand identification
  • Service delivery options
  • Justification of the proposed options
  • Project definition

Delivery

  • Procurement strategy
  • Specification
  • Service provider selection
  • Implementation
  • Post implementation, including operation and evaluation
Aboriginal participation in construction

The Aboriginal participation in construction guidelines are aimed at supporting and encouraging more employment and business opportunities in government construction projects, for Aboriginal people. nswbuy has accredited Aboriginal building and associated trades firms to apply for tendering opportunities on government construction projects.
