Around 16,500 government and non-government customers buy from our extensive range of products and services. Our state contracts are developed in partnership with sole suppliers or a panels of suppliers and are usually from three (3) to five (5) years.
We offer tenders online and in the government tenders section of the Sydney Morning Herald Monday newspaper. You can download a request for tender free of charge at NSW eTendering or contact us to be sent a copy by post (a fee may apply). Tenders are evaluated by committees and successful businesses are requested to sign an agreement to enter into a contract.

Getting paid
There is legislation that assists you to get paid for your construction work or plant and materials you have supplied. The Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act 1999 NSW is a government commitment to maintaining the stability and efficiency of the construction industry.
It provides a fair, fast system for adjudication of disputes over payments. It applies to:
- suppliers, consultants and contractors who want to make a claim
- suppliers, consultants and contractors who wish to take their claim to an independent adjudicator
- agencies responding to a claim, and
- agencies responding to an adjudication.

Complaints & management of contracts
nswbuy ensures you benefit from state contracts that are fair, transparent and assure probity. We are required by government to provide agencies with products and services at competitive prices.
The State Contracts Control Board is a statutory board which reports to the Minister for Commerce. The board monitors and advises on government procurement practice, authorises delegations and investigates and resolves complaints.
Complaints
Complaints about agency tenders are managed by the State Contracts Control Board chairperson. All industry should have the opportunity to be engaged as a supplier of state contracts. A business may make a complaint about being unnecessarily precluded from tendering or being penalised by contract terms. Information about making a complaint is included in newspaper advertisements for agency tenders.
